Solar Trailer message IBEW 68 Wiring the Green Energy Economy!
Thanks goes out to Business agent Joel Holden for transporting the van and trailer for both days of event. This picture was sent to us from the Sustainable Industries magazine. We hope to get a story in their Magazine.
Booth 478 set up at the Green festival.
We used the NECA IBEW Presentation Board and added RE Photos to the display.
Thanks goes out to volunteer Pete Beverly whose work with Habitat for Humanity and Homes for our Troops were included in Photos.
He is standing to the side prior to the festival starting.
Green festival picture Sunday Afternoon May 3 one of the few moments that the crowds had slowed down.
Much thanks goes out to Richard Roth, Cool Solar who volunteered for both days and generated a lot of interest from the crowds. Rick Francone, Nth Electric, always shows up as a volunteer on Solar Barn Raisings, seminars, at the monthly meetings as a committed member of the Renewable Energy Committee.
Thanks goes out to Tom Rutherford who developed a looped power point from pictures submitted by Pete Beverly, Shawn Josserand, Golden Solar, Richard Roth, Cool Solar, and Mary Broderick from all the various activities such as Solar Barn raisings, the Wind Turbine dedication
Tom Rutherford ,Political Action Coordinator Talk to festival goers about the importance of the Employee Free Choice Act. He and several volunteers from the Postal Carrier union were available both days answering questions, requesting signatures in favor of the EFCA, and even got people to write letters in favor of the EFCA.
The crowds around our booth were like this most of both days. Alot of people commented that they had no idea that the Electrical Unions did this kind of work and promoted Renewable energy!
Current Solar Class members help Mary Broderick install solar at her home. This is an example of IBEW 68 Renewable Energy Committee's Solar Barn Raising Concept. Thanks to Pete Beverly and his PV Installations class for volunteering their help, and Contractors Cool Solar and Golden Solar for their consistent volunteer efforts on projects such as these. Shawn and Richard supplied alot of the equipment and parts needed to complete the project in one day!
Business Manager Dennis Whalen spoke at the State Capitol for a Solar Awareness Rally along with IBEW and Colorado Solar Energy Association Members. This was a lobby day to encourage lawmakers to support Renewable Energy Growth and the subsequent Green Jobs that will be part of the growth
IBEW 68 was key in making sure that there was a solar installation at the Democratic National Convention.
The modules were installed by Golden Solar's Shawn Josserand and Richard Roth from Cool Solar Inc, along with other IBEW 68 electricians in conjunction with a COSEIA effort to green the convention.
The panels were purchased at a reduced cost and will be installed soon at the new DJEATC building on E.54th Ave as part of a large ground mount solar training installation for electrical apprentices.
The systems will be tied to the grid and are eligible for an XCEL Energy Solar Rebate.

Here are more photos of what IBEW 68 Photovoltaic Committee members have been volunteering their time in an effort to promote the Photovoltaic Industry since 2005.
The photos below are courtesy of IBEW 68 member Shawn Josserand. Click on the links below to learn more about his system and his net installation costs after rebate

Completed 18 panel array which produces 3420Wdc and is expected to produce 4714kWh ac on an annual basis. This is one of the three systems that the DJEATC plans to install at the Jack Spaar Training Center of the DJEATC which is the Electrical Apprenticeship Training Center
The picture above shows the completed BOS components that convert the DC energy to AC energy which is fed back to the Grid in this Grid Tie system

There were 240 Attendees who attended the John Wiles presentation of Photovoltaic's and the 2005 NEC on 10-25& 26-2006
The IBEW 68 Photovoltaic Committee invited John Wiles to present.
The DJEATC had over 100 apprentices attend and invited the Colorado State Electrical Inspectors
NECA through the JIPF funded the food and the printed materials
We had full attendance on both nights of the 2 night seminar. In addition to over 100 IBEW electricians; we had over 30 state and County electrical inspectors and 4 engineering firms represented
Cindy Knox coordinated all the food for both nights and also printed all the handouts. She is Ed Knox's wife and a wonderful example of volunteering for the Good of the Union
