Labor's Community Agency has always been there to help Workers, now they could use our help. Helping as many people as they have in this economy, they are now in a financial "crunch" themselves.
A donation of just a dollar goes a long way.
The "L.C.A." can take that dollar and then buy bulk food for distribution, they pay $0.16/ lb., and that includes boxes of cereal, pasta, bread, etc. Those are- light weight- food products that can be bought in great quantities, and distributed to those in need. Your dollar donation can go a long, long way. For info on where to send your donation, give us a call!
Labors Community Agency will take your vehicle donations! Tired of that old car- "running or not" - sitting outside the house, call L.C.A. and make a donation of that old vehicle!
Industry Standards

Our Brothers and Sisters in the electrical industry represent an example for construction workers across the country and around the world. We claim to be the most productive, highest skilled and best trained.
In order to live up to our claim, we must endeavor to maintain this high set of standards, and help others to attain them. The following goals are just part of an overall value system that we have established and will continue to promote, for the betterment of our industry and ourselves now, as we have for over a century.

"Eight for eight," being where you should be, doing the work you should be
doing!"

Use the proper tools for the job, maintaining and treating the employer's
tools as you treat your own.

Be a safe employee, watching out for unsafe conditions and situations
and informing supervisors and co-workers to avoid accidents. Being an
alcohol and drug free worker.

Promoting and representing our industry in a positive manner, thus helping to
ensure the contractors and their customers will request us in the future.

Listening to and carrying out work assignments efficiently, using
tools and materials in a timely manner. Returning tools and materials to
the proper areas for future use and to avoid redundant, costly re-orders
and confusion.

Respect for your Steward and Supervision, we are all members in the same
Brotherhood.

Through our quality of work, show the contractor and their customers that we
are the most productive, highest skilled and best trained electrical workers
they can employ.

Have a sense of pride in your craftsmanship, and a positive attitude, both on
and off the job.

Honor the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.

Upgrade your skills through "Upgrade Training"

Attend your Membership Meetings and volunteer to help to further aid the
activities and goals of your local and international union.

THAT'S NOT MY JOB!

This is a story
about four people:
Everybody,
Somebody,
Anybody, and
Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and
Everybody was absolutely sure that
Somebody would do it.

Anybody could have done it,
but-
Nobody did it.

Somebody got angry about that,
because it was
Everybody's job.

Everybody thought
Anybody could
do it, but
Nobody realized that
Everybody wouldn't do it!

It ended up that
Everybody blamed
Somebody when
Nobody did what
Anybody could have done.

To all participants in the Eighth District Electrical Benefit Fund

Sav-RX Prescription Services takes member satisfaction very seriously. We continually seek enhancements that may strengthen and increase satisfaction.

In our efforts to increase customer care, Sav-RX began using U.P.S. Mail Innovations to provide enhanced tracking capabilities of mail order packages to our participants. After a brief trial of this shipping method, we have found this process to result in unacceptable mailing times in comparison with our previous shipping method. (Utilizing the United States Postal Service, First Class Mail). We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.

As a result, Sav-RX has resumed utilization of U.S.P.S. First Class Mail immediately. You and all participants will see a significant improvement in shipping times for mail order prescriptions.

Please contact your account manager with any questions or concerns you may have>

Running the Future- Edwin Hill, International President-"History does not run on it's own. It is run."

.......In the last 18 months, I've seen the construction branch of the Brotherhood take more meaningful steps than at any time in my 50 years of carrying an I.B.E.W. ticket....

......a marked difference in the performance of our members- in work ethic, productivity and appearance. We are getting opportunities in places we have never been before......

......old fashioned values of hard work and craftsmanship are alive and well......

......future generations of I.B.E.W. leaders and rank and file members, will judge us on how we learned from our mistakes and how we responded to challenges........

These are excerpts from International President- Ed Hill's statement in the  I.B.E.W. Journal (April 2006).

Thanks to the I.B.E.W. Local Union # 68 members that have "stepped up" and made the difference right here in our own "backyard."

It now almost 2007, I.B.E.W. members across the United States and Canada continue to "take care of our business" in a Journeyman type manner.

TO: All I.B.E.W. Local Unions with with Construction and/or Utility Jurisdiction

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

For years, the utility industry has been at the center of a national debate over clean air, one that involves the conflicting views of labor, industry executives, environmentalists and public policy makers. Part of the reason for the impasse has been the hysterical reaction against nuclear power that surfaced in the 1970's and has never totally subsided. This has resulted in limiting growth of a safe, clean source of energy that provides good jobs to 58,000 workers including 15,000 of our I.B.E.W. members.

The time may be near when we can break the impasse, and the I.B.E.W. must do all in it's power to make that happen.

The International has joined the Clean and Safe Energy Coalition (C.A.S. Energy Coalition), a group that supports increased use of nuclear energy to supply electricity for American homes and businesses. Numerous other national and local labor organizations are also on board. We joined the coalition because nuclear energy boosts economic growth, supports good jobs in the construction and operations of new plants and communities and addresses many of the concerns over emissions that have plagued the industry.

With the high cost of fuel and the growing concern across the political spectrum over global warming, more parties in the debate are taking a second look at nuclear power with a broader range of support than has existed in many years.

C.A.S. Energy needs the broadest possible base of support in order to take advantage of this new atmosphere. In addition to the International, we need the support of as many local unions as possible. I urge you to join us in becoming a member of the C.A.S. Energy Coalition. Together, we can help create a new era in the utility industry.

To join, please go to www.CleanSafeEnergy.org and click on "Join Us".

With best wishes, I am

Sincerely,

Edwin D. Hill
International President
